How a German chemical producer opened South America and Africa — without an export team, without a distributor, and without paying anything upfront.
The story, in their words
“They opened up South America and Africa for us — markets where we had no real strength of our own. Their director maintains a genuinely close relationship with end users, so doing business through Retba means one more guarantee. A reliable partner for long term growth.”
Managing Director · Chemical producer, Germany
The journey
An established chemical producer with a strong business at home. Beyond its own market, reach ran out: South America and Africa offered growth the factory could serve, but the company had no real strength of its own there — no buyers, no local presence, and no team in place to develop them.
New customers in markets thousands of miles away, reached directly rather than handed to a distributor standing between the factory and the buyer. And confidence that payment risk, language barriers and shipping complexity — the realities of those routes — would be handled rather than discovered.
Retba found and qualified buyers and promoted the products locally, then managed every relationship from first order through to final payment, with the same people on the account throughout. The key customs documents were checked before each shipment, so paperwork never became the bottleneck. And there was no upfront cost — Retba is paid only when the producer is paid.
